Zayn Malik has discussed exciting plans for his family and the passions he hopes to pass down to his newborn daughter.
On Wednesday, the ‘Pillowtalk’ singer opened up about parenting in a video released on the same day he announced that he and his girlfriend Gigi Hadid had welcomed their ‘healthy and beautiful’ daughter.
Discussing what books he hopes to give his children in the future, he noted in a video shared on E! News: ‘I’ve always enjoyed Harry Potter.
‘I think it was something I’ll introduce to my kids and so on and so on. I think it will be one of them that stays in the family for a very long time,’
Malik is known to be a big Potter fan and even has a tattoo inspired by the hit literary and film franchise.
‘I think the first time I actually read a Harry Potter book was in school. And at that time, I think I had a very vivid imagination anyway and that kind of just catered to it,’ he continued during his discussion with San Francisco-based mobile game developer Zynga to announce the launch of the puzzle game Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells.
‘It just helped me kind of get into that crazy world of the wizards and all that kind of stuff. I always loved it. I’ve always been into that kind of stuff. Anything fantasy, mystical, anything in that route, I’m all about it.’
Over the weekend, Malik and Hadid welcomed their first child together – a baby girl – and have since shared the news with their Instagram followers.
‘Our baby girl is here, healthy & beautiful,’ Malik tweeted a black-and-white photograph of him and his little newborn’s hands entwined.
‘To try put into words how i am feeling right now would be an impossible task,’ he continued. ‘The love i feel for this tiny human is beyond my understanding. Grateful to know her, proud to call her mine, & thankful for the life we will have together x. [sic]’
Hadid later shared a photograph of her boyfriend’s hand with their daughters.
‘Our girl joined us earth-side this weekend and she’s already changed our world. So in love [sic],’ she captioned the sweet shot of their hands.
The model announced she was expecting a baby in April and has shared numerous photos of her growing bump on social media in recent months.
